A CONSERVAÇÃO AMBIENTAL COMO FORMA DE PREVENÇÃO À VIOLÊNCIA

Abstract

The discussions related to public security hardly ever consider the relationship between environmental degradation and common urban violence. As the planet provides natural resources and its use can degrade it, and influences people’s life, affecting their quality of life, namely health and economy. For instance, the loss of an ecosystem service of pollinizing from a unique bee type may influence the production chain of several crops, which are source of money for many families. It can also influence the forms of life, affecting other live organisms, as the insects are responsible for 33% of pollinizing processes. Science has proved that thousands people can be impacted by environmental disorders. The pollution may cause deaths and affect population health, making than economically and socially vulnerable. As well as urbanization without planning results in tragedies (floods and landslides). The vulnerability due to the degraded environment may propagate violence and generates public security problems, which can be easily proved by high criminal indexes in places with bigger environmental problems. Unfortunately, feel studies consider environmental conservation as a way of preventing violence and improving public security.
