Abstract

ABSTRACT

Theoretical Foundations of Classical School of Criminology and Perspectives of Cadets from the Federal District Military Police (PMDF). Do we still think classic?

This research reports the premises from the Classical School of Criminology, its philosophical basis, main theorists, methods and implications on current criminal policy, as well as it analyses whether PMDF cadets from the 22nd Class identify themselves with its postulates, so as to indicate criminal policies and solutions in the criminal area that will be of interest for the future commanders.

In this sense, it was asked whether the cadets identify with its postulates and whether their background experience in the Criminal System would interfere on their perceptions.

In order to answer the questions, the methodology adopted consisted on bibliographic research. Also, questionnaires were administered to cadets from the 22nd Class, assuming that the ones who have previous experience on the criminal system would be more likely to identify themselves with the Classical School principles.

The research comprised a sample of 115 cadets from the 22nd Class, from which 87 questionnaires were responded manually. Researchers fed the “SurveyMonkey” platform with the data taken from the respondents, which corresponds to 75% of the total population object of this study.

Based upon the analysis of the results, it was possible to verify that the majority of cadets from the 22nd Class identify with the postulates and values from the Classical School of Criminology.
