Analyzes the insertion of afro-descedants in the Public Force of Minas Gerais in the first decades of the 20th century, seeking to understand the construction of identities provided with symbolic power and social cohesion that emerged from educational processes, to explain the construction of imaginary in the light of interests and group strategies. In this process, sources such as: chronicles, military manuals, award and punishment notes, bulletins, reports, regulations and, especially, iconography were analyzed. Methodologically, the Games of analysis scales were used, based on the experiences of two officers: Major Lopes, commander of policing and police chief during the construction of Belo Horizonte, active between 1894 and 1915; and Lieutenant Colonel Santos Cavalcante, writer and combatant in the revolutions of the 1930s. It was noticed that Afro-descendant officers incorporated speeches and institutional practices, making it possible to identify aspects of social mobility of these protagonists.
