PUBLIC SECURITY AND CIVIL DISARMAMENT

Abstract

This article proposes to conduct an analysis on the issue of Civil Disarmament from the context of public security. An analysis of the social, ideological, legal and political reasons was carried out, which led to the creation of the Disarmament Statute in 2005 and its relation with the historical context that permeated this process. The text also addresses the issue of civil disarmament in other countries. In the end a critical reflection is made on several arguments that point out the discourse on civil disarmament and the responsibility of the state in public security, thus exposing an apparent dichotomy between public security and individual security.
