Abstract

Terrorism is a term of difficult legal conceptualization, yet it is a very old phenomenon. This article seeks to study the relationship between the waves of attacks perpetrated by (macro)criminal organizations in Brazil and terrorism. The basic premise of this analysis is the consideration that criminality, in general, has become sophisticated in a way never seen before, notably in the attacks directed against the civil population, as well as against public agents and state authorities. The legislation and the means for the control of criminal terrorism in Brazil are also verified. The methodology used is based on bibliographic research, besides the use of theoretical, conceptual and historical data.
